What is COPE?
Centre of Perinatal Excellence (COPE) is a not-for-profit organisation devoted to reducing the impacts of emotional and mental health problems in the pre and postnatal periods. COPE – Centre of Perinatal Excellence is there to keep motherhood real and support others through the journey of parenthood.
COPE is committed to stopping the current stigma that surrounds mental health, so people feel supported to speak up and seek help early. They work to raise awareness so that emotional and mental health problems during the pre and postnatal periods are identified early, as well as supporting women, men, families and health professionals to access timely, safe and effective care for perinatal emotional and mental health conditions.
Unfortunately there is still a stigma around depression generally, but I think particularly amongst women. We can be our own worst enemies – especially when it comes to motherhood. We need to stop giving each other a hard time and come together with love and support.” – Polly via Just Speak Up.
